Movie Review: PAUL

Movie Review: PAUL

Synopsis: Simon Pegg and Nck Frost (Hot Fuzz, Shaun of the Dead) reunite as sci-fi geeks taking a pilgrimage to America’s UFO heartland. There they meet a smart-ass alien, Paul (voiced by Seth Rogen), who takes them on an insane road trip.  As they struggle to return Paul home, the little green man might just take the outcast from misfits to intergalactic heroes.

From the director of Superbad, Greg Motola.  With a stellar supporting cast including Jason Bateman, Kristen Wiig, Bill Hader, Joe Lo Truglio, Jane Lynch and (naturally) Sigourney Weaver.

At the suggestion of several people I rented the unrated version of the movie and watched it last night.  I must say that I was pleasantly surprised at the superb digital animation of the alien “Paul,” the realism, and the expert method of integrating him in the scenes.  The result was a very realistic experience.

The acting by all involved was excellent, and the inclusion of real UFO locations and commonly known alien appearance and skills as reported by real UFO Experiencers made this film come across as very realistic.  I highly recommend the film!

The original R-Rated theatrical Version run time is 1 hr 44 minutes, and the unrated version run time: is 1 hour 50 minutes. No doubt some of the more “risqué” elements were omitted from the theatrical version.
